Fabrizio Romano reported today Celtic are very much in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the possibility of signing Joe Hart.

The former England international and EPL winner signed for the London club last summer to play back up to Hugo Lloris – he has this summer fell further down the pecking order.

Celtic have a goalkeeping crisis on their hand – the supporters not confident in any option currently at the club.

It’s driving a lot of fans opinions that anything would be an improvement – including Joe.

Would the move be something Celtic could financially handle? Let’s look at his wages.

We have two separate points of reference online for what Joe is currently on at Spurs and it certainly makes him gettable from a Celtic perspective.

SalarySport has his wages sitting at £30kpw [I wouldn’t imagine Celtic would go that high, but could offer him a decent percentage of that].

Spurs-Web commented last year when he signed for the club that the goalkeeper’s wage packet was around £27kpw with addons. So we can safely assume this is in the ball park of what he’s earning. Not a bad job if you can get it!

It’s entirely possible Celtic could land the goalkeeper if they want to bring him in. The lure of first team football and the chance to win more silverware would be appealing to Joe.
