JOHN KENNEDY has paid tribute to the outgoing Scott Brown after it was confirmed the Celtic captain would leave the club at the end of the season.

Scott’s Celtic career spans over 14 years and so many people and ex-teammates have been reaching out.

The interim Celtic boss has heaped praise on his captain and stated the midfielder is irreplaceable.

“He’s a terrific captain and leader.” Kennedy told SunSport.

“He will be irreplaceable in terms of what he gives us on a daily basis, his drive to be successful and how he leads by example every single day.

“It’s very difficult to replace that. What he’s given us with his attitude and application is second to none.

“He is the perfect example of a modern-day professional — how he lives his life, the condition he keeps himself in and how he pushes himself every single day.

“He is the guy coaches always look to in order to take some of the burden. He drives training forward.

“He’s a massive character, a huge personality and he’s been a massive part of this club for so long. He’ll be missed.

“I’d love to have had more time with him and seen him bring more success to the club, but it’s his own decision and we have to respect that.

“He’s given so much of his life to us and we wish him all the best moving forward. He’s one of the greats of this club.

“When you see him up close you realise the desire he brings on a matchday is there every day in training.

“His unselfishness to make others better, as well as himself, is an outstanding quality.

“Scott doesn’t do things for his own benefit. He very much does everything for the benefit of the team and the club.”

Kennedy could end his own official affiliation with the club this summer also if a new setup comes in and they bring their own coaching team.

It’s truly changing times at Celtic Park and there’s no room for sentiment.

Had Scott Brown gone with sentiment then he would have stayed at Celtic longer. However, he knows his role on the field at the club has diminished and the invincible star wants to try his hand at coaching.

There’s no doubt that down the line Scott and Celtic will link up again in some capacity. Next season we just have to get used to the player turning out in red and instead of winding the Aberdeen players up, he’ll be fighting with them.
