Kristoffer Ajer left Celtic towards the start of the window for a fee of £13.5 million to join newly-promoted side Brentford. Life in the Premier League started well, beating Arsenal 2-0 – not that that’s too hard. The team currently sit 10th after drawing to both Crystal Palace and Aston Villa

After joining in 2016, the Norwegian international spent time at Kilmarnock on loan before Developing into a first-team player at Celtic. Ajer was a great player at Celtic, winning three trebles and being part of the 9-in-a-row team. It was clear to see that Ajer was destined for the Premier League. Having spoken publically about his desire to leave, he was sold shortly after entering the last 12 months of his contract.

Speaking to VG, as quoted by Record Sport, this is what Kristoffer Ajer had to say about his move to the Premier League and the standard of the Scottish League;

“I think it is natural when you play a little too many matches at a level that is not high enough.

“I have incredible respect for the Scottish league, there are many great teams there, but there will be a little too many matches where I am not challenged enough.

“I will definitely be in the Premier League, so I probably think the Premier League is not possible to complain about.”

He may be right about the quality not being as good as down south, but let’s get one thing straight – he was not perfect and made mistakes.

Ajer had the chance to play in Glasgow Derbies as well as Europe, it wasn’t every week he played against Hamilton.
