KRIS BOYD was one of the biggest cheerleaders for the implementation of VAR in Scotland, but after just weeks of the equipment being in use, he’s already slamming it.

There have been numerous mistakes already. The most notable was Tony Watt’s red card after VAR review, only for Dundee United to win their appeal and the suspension rescinded.

Celtic have been at the wrong end of countless questionable decisions, starting from the very first game with the technology in play. It’s gotten so bad that Celtic have had to raise their concerns about the equipment after Jota’s disallowed goal on Wednesday night and a nasty challenge on Carl Starfelt went without a check.

The angle used to determine if the linesman’s call for offside was nothing short of a disgrace. Boyd agrees with this, admitting the lines looked a child had drawn them and the challenge on Starfelt should’ve been a red card.

As quoted by The Sun, he said;

“What were the VAR lines all about for Jota’s goal, which was ruled out for offside?

“It was like something a three-year-old had drawn on their Etch-a-Sketch.

“Offside should be a black and white issue, yet we somehow manage to find grey areas.

“But, there was an even more appalling decision in the game.

“The tackle on Carl Starfelt was the worst I have seen all year.

“It was a proper leg-breaker from Josh Morris, who was way out of control, yet he’s only booked and there is no review.

“If the Morris incident is not a clear and obvious error then I do not know what is.”

Has Chris Sutton logged in to Boyd’s account and typed this? I can’t believe I’m agreeing with him.
