ANGE POSTECOGLOU’s gamble to play Kyogo in the League Cup final against Hibs paid off, scoring a brace that enabled Celtic to come from behind and lift the trophy.

Kyogo has revealed he couldn’t miss the match, despite carrying an injury. He had to play and help his team win their first trophy of the season.

Opening up to the Celtic View, the Japanese striker revealed;

“I wasn’t 100 per cent going into the match after the injury but I just had to play.

“I had to! I could not miss it.

“I knew what an important match it was for us all and I wanted to be part of it and give as much as I could,

“The atmosphere was so good and it was a joy to play out there in such a big match in front of a full crowd, it really was something special and one of the great moments of my career so far – but I hope, of course, there are some more days like this.”

It’s great to see him care so much about the club and play through an injury that ultimately has worsened his injury and received a more prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Thanks to the return of Giakoumakis and the acquisition of Daizen Maeda, Kyogo’s absence hasn’t had too much of an impact.

The strikers have been sensational this calendar year, and Kyogo has a challenging task on his hands to displace them. Although, I’m sure he’ll manage it.

The Japanese striker is due to return soon, starting his rehab recently. Hopefully, he will help guide Celtic to more silverware this season.
