Steve Clarke has a wealth of injury issues and while he had hopes that right-back Aaron Hickey would recover in time for June, they have been dashed by Brentford manager Thomas Frank.

The Bees’ boss recently outlined the state of the former Hearts man in a recent press conference.

Frank was asked if Hickey would be seen again this season and what his chances of being on the plane to Germany are.

He said: [Sky Sports] “No, we’re not going to see him.

“I’m not the manager of Scotland, but I don’t think it’s positive.”

With Nathan Patterson also on the treatment table, the right-back spot in the Scotland team remains open.

Ralston is currently third in the pecking order for the position having been called up alongside Patterson and Hickey during the last international break while Forrest could deputise at right-wing-back in a 5-3-2.

The veteran wide-man has been in fine fettle the past few weeks and could play in a multitude of positions in the Scotland team.

With the Euros squad limit now at 26 combined with injuries, the case for both Forrest and Ralston to head to the summer tournament strengthens.
