At the start of this season, many Celtic supporters thought their young star Karamoko Dembele was on the cusp of getting more first team opportunities.

Given the quick glimpses Dembele has had of the first team over the last two years, and even finding himself on the sub bench for the treble treble cup final, there was an expectation this season could prove fruitful for the winger.

However, the midfielder came back from lockdown in poor shape and has had to build himself up again. Not an easy thing to do when you’re not playing any football.

James Forrest is out until the new year, leaving a space for Dembele to try and move into.

Ryan Christie has been put out on the right, but there will be games where the Celtic manager will have to chop and change or even rest certain players. Is it now time to kickstart the youngster’s Celtic career or is the expectation and stress of this season making Neil Lennon think twice about fielding the winger?

It stands to reason, with every SPFL game important at the moment, there’s no room for error and experience is much safer.

The major concern is the player’s development, with no reserve or youth games to play, our youngsters are sitting idle.
