LEWIS MORGAN has been discussing his move to Celtic from St Mirren back when Brendan Rodgers was in charge of the Hoops and speculates why it didn’t work out for him in Glasgow.

Lewis was signed by the Irishman after having a top season with St Mirren. Loaned straight back out, Celtic fans were hopeful Lewis could be a rising star at the club as the years went on but in the end his time at Celtic fizzled out.

It was a bizarre twist of fate when former England and Manchester Utd star David Beckham led a consortium to bring a new football club to the ML. Inter Miami was born and Lewis was scouted by the new club in a bid to build a successful side.

Now at New York Red Bulls, Lewis discusses his failed Celtic move with Glasgow Live:

“It was a big step in my career coming from St Mirren. I think at the time I had a few different options on the table but with Brendan Rodgers being the manager, obviously it is a massive club. I am ambitious as a football player and wanted to test myself at the highest level.

“It is well documented that I had a couple of injury problems when I was there and sometimes you just need everything to fall into place and sometimes that doesn’t happen. It is something I am sure I will look back on with fond memories when I stop playing.

“But from a sporting side, I wanted to play more and that is what led to me trying to move on and get regular football elsewhere.”

Lewis has done well since moving to the MLS, now playing alongside former bhoys Calvin Miller and Patryk Klimala he hopes to make an impact in the MLS with his new club.

There’s no doubt we’ll see Lewis back in the UK at some point before hi career is over. The wee man is also pushing for a Scotland international call-up but it’s a case of out of sight, out of mind when it comes to Steve Clarke.
