Celtic fans might not have heard of the name Rory Mahady. The Celtic youth goalkeeper turns 16 later this year and will be eligible to sign his first ever professional deal. However, will that deal be with Celtic?

News has come out in the past 48 hours a trio of clubs in England are looking to snap up the talented young shot stopper. [Scottish Daily Express]

Man City, Spurs and Leeds all have eyes on the young Celtic lad and are waiting in the wings if Celtic can’t convince Rory his future is best served at Lennoxtown.

The Bhoys have had a nightmare trying to hold on to young prospects, from Liam Morrison going to Bayern to Ben Doak signing for Liverpool earlier this summer. Top clubs are looking to find the next top talent in a bid to curb their transfer expenditures in the long run.

It feels like Celtic are fighting a losing battle at the moment when it comes to keeping a hold of their top young players. Ben Doak is a Celtic fan and was awarded his first team debut this season but it still wasn’t enough for the youngster to stay at the club when Liverpool came calling.

Ange is trying to build behind the scenes and the youth players have to see progress as well as a pathway to the first team in order to make their decision to leave extremely difficult.

Celtic must look to their academy more and more and produce more players like Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney. It’s imperative given the financial landscape of European football.
