Celtic have officially unveiled Liam Shaw six months after wrapping up a deal for the English midfielder.

Signed while Neil Lennon was still in charge, Shaw had to see out the rest of the season with Sheffield Wednesday before easing to Glasgow.

The players are due back this week [the players who aren’t at the Euro’s or on international duty] and Liam will get a chance to meet and train with his new teammates.

The youngster will know the enormity of the task ahead. He’s coming into a new club who are going through a major transition with a manager who knows nothing about him.

The positive is everybody will have their chance to impress and Liam will have his chance to show what he can do.

Speaking to Celtic, the player said:

“It feels good, obviously. It’s a really nice kit in green. I’ve always been in blue but green is my new favourite colour.

‘When I heard that Celtic were interested, I couldn’t believe it, to be honest – a club of this stature and one of the biggest clubs in Europe.’

“I can’t really describe how I feel, but it’s massive for me and my family to get that kind of recognition. I’ve signed now, so it’s up to me to start performing on the pitch.

“We’ve got a new manager so everyone has a fresh start and you’ve just got to go in and try to impress him.

“All the way through my career, I’ve had different managers so all you have to do is keep your head down and show your ability and show you’ve got a good attitude. And hopefully he picks me and I do well for him.”

It’s all go for the Hoops now. We have next seasons domestic fixtures out, the Champions league qualifying draw is on Wednesday and the new manager should be on the training ground shortly.

It’s a massive season with so much at stake, Celtic and the players have to get themselves in the best possible position to succeed.

We hope Liam is part of our future success!
