Celtic have a large amount of fringe players on their books.

Players who are probably done with developmental but not quite ready for the first team.

Here are three players who certainly could be doing with first team game time elsewhere.

Calvin Miller

The attacker turned left back has been in and out of the first team when Rodgers has needed him to play a role.

With no backup for Kieran Tierney last season Calvin did his best to deputise in his absence in a role he’s not familiar.

With the return of Izaguirre, now is the best time for the player to head out and see what he’s made of.

Kundai Benyu

His last loan deal was a disaster – startinfting only a handful of games for Oldham in the second half of last season before being dropped and made to sit in the stands on match day.

He came to Celtic and looked lively in the beginning but since the League Cup game against Kilmarnock last term, Benyu has been non existent to the point when you forget he’s there.

The midfielder needs a loan and club who will likely start him.

Mikey Johnston

Now hear me out.

While Mikey started the game for Celtic against Thistle it’s unlikely that the tricky midfielder will feature a great deal for the club this season.

The Bhoy has immense talent, he now just needs the experience.

Specifically, a loan move to an SPFL club. Ajer learned a lot in his five months at Kilmarnock and prepared him for the Celtic first team. There’s no reason Mikey can’t do the same.
