Celtic and Scottish football have been given a huge European boost for next season with the SFA confirming Scotland have secured FIVE slots for Europe with two in the Champions League.

The coefficient rising steadily will see both the champions and the runners up get the chance to qualify for Europe’s premier competition.

The winners will enter at the third qualifying round which takes two qualifiers away from this years process, and the runners up will enter at the second qualifier.

Celtic and their city rivals doing well in the Europa League last year saw the coefficient take a big jump. We saw this reflected in Celtic making pot one of the Europa League this season but it didn’t have any advantage with the teams Celtic were drawn against.

Could we be approaching a day where two Scottish teams are playing Champions League football?

Celtic have not been there in their last three attempts, something has to change in order for them to get among Europe’s elite.
