Celtic head over to Ibrox on Sunday to play their rivals in the first derby of the season. However, there could be a lot of first team players out of the tie if the latest news from RecordSport is accurate.

Celtic’s opponents on Sunday are flying out for the second leg of their tie against Alashkert and are missing some top players from their side after the announcement of positive cases within the camp.

Steven Gerrard has not made the flight this afternoon along with James Tavernier, Calvin Bassey, Scott Wright, Ryan Kent, Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin.

Gary McAllister is set to take the team for the Europa League tie.

Right now, nothing is confirmed. This could be a misdirect from the Ibrox club who have taken the precaution not to fly certain players out just in case. However, they still have a match to finish away from home and doing so would present a great risk.

Are all the players above out of the Glasgow Derby tie? There’s every chance they could be, but it’s not a forgone conclusion yet.

Celtic have to make sure they focus on their game, we saw last season, playing a side with call-offs doesn’t guarantee you’ll get the victory. Even without these players they can still put out a good side.

  1. It simply does not matter what players they have available. If Celtic play to their own strengths then the Glasgow Derby will only finish one way.

  2. Have no doubt , Rangers2012, will still have a few aces up their sleeves. Clancy will get more instructions than usual and their sectarian fans will reach new highs , or in decent people’s minds lower in attempt to upset the players we have , who are not used to such animalistic noise from bears & other filth

  3. As a Celtic fan I wanted all players from both teams fully available.
The result on Sunday should not be questioned through Covid related issues.
That being said Celtic had a huge blow through similar situations last year.
I wonder how many on the four hour bus journey from Dingwall were in “close contact” with the positive testing players?
I hope Rangers act with integrity and the clamour shown when Celtic had to obey the rules and laws of the land?

  4. Lets all laugh at sevco the virus covid cheats hope they get beat tomorrow and sunday and the zombies will be gutted and turn on slippy g the man who has been put out more cups but the media stick buy him dirty rats journalist scumhuns.
