It is a known fact that Celtic will be in the market for a striker this January. Over the summer, a name that was mentioned as a concrete target was Mathias Kvistgaarden.
Going into the winter window, the Brondby man has come up once again. According to Football Scotland, however, Schalke has emerged as a potential suitor for him.
It is said that the second-division German club have already made an official approach for the player. They want to sign Kvistgaarden in January having sent scouts to watch him last month.
If Celtic are genuinely interested in Kvistgaarden and want to bring him to Glasgow, they should be beating a club from Germany’s second tier to him regardless. It remains to be seen if they do, and there will certainly be several targets in mind.
Simon Wlodarczyk is one of those, but also as of Football Scotland, a £15 million price tag on him is outwith the reach of the champions.
Numerous names will be mentioned between now and the end of the upcoming transfer window, and Brendan Rodgers will hope he signs the correct one.
