Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers’ return to the team at the weekend couldn’t help prevent a first home defeat to Hearts since 2009. Goals from Lawrence Shankland and Stephen Kingsley put the champions in a precarious position regarding their league lead.
Said advantage at the top of the table has been dwindling over the past few weeks, but Carter-Vickers is relaxed about it: “Of course I’m aware of it”, he admitted (Football Scotland). “But I’ve always said, it’s December. We had a lead that obviously now is disappearing, but at the end of the day, it’s still December. There are plenty of games to be played.”
We are not even halfway through the season yet, although the signs from Brendan Rodgers’ team over the past few weeks have been concerning. The Glasgow derby on December 30th is becoming more and more crucial with every passing game, due to the Hoops’ own doing.
Before that clash, however, The Bhoys still have to face Livingston at home and Dundee away. Six points have to be picked up from these two games, or else the feeling around the club from the fans will become even more toxic.
