A top journalist from Greece has claimed the move for Vasilios Barkas isn’t as straight forward as Celtic would’ve hoped.

Reports over the weekend claim Celtic are closing on the goalkeepers signature with the two clubs getting close to a fee.

However, the Sportime Editor in Greece is set out the problem with his sell on clause.

Celtic are happy to hand Athens a sizeable profit sell on clause but because there’s a 15% clause in the player already from his previous club – Athens want more up front to cover that.

Celtic have been looking at all their options when it comes to bringing in a Fraser Forster replacement. The English goalkeeper has been silent since leaving Celtic back in June.

The club can’t afford to sit around longer and wait for his mind to change. If they can get The Barkas deal over the line, that will be it.
