Celtic have reportedly come back around the table in the pursuit of prolific Peterborough striker Ivan Toney. The Lower league English side are fielding offers for their star player but Celtic were informed last week a club had met their valuation for Toney.

That appeared to be it for Celtic’s interest in the striker, however, news tonight claim Celtic have come in and are looking to get the striker signed up.

SunSport revealed the Scottish Champions are still very keen on the frontman and Gavin Strachan has highly recommended the player he has worked with at Peterborough. He overseen the player score 24 goals in 33 league appearances last term.

Posh chief exec Barry Fry has been quite clear they want top dollar for Ivan – if Celtic are in serious pursuit of him, Neil Lennon must see the striker as a long term successor to Odsonne Edouard. There is still a question mark surrounding the Frenchman’s status, until he signs a new deal OR the window closes, speculation will continue.
