The status of Jozo Simunovic has become more clear this evening with the player being booked in for knee surgery the Celtic manager has confirmed.

Jozo started the season well when a recurring knee problem resurfaced to the point the club sent the Croatian to a specialist. The defender hasn’t had a full season void of injury since becoming a Celt and it now looks like the player faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Lennon confirmed to CelticTV: “Jozo’s in for surgery. He’s going to have a clean-out in the knee, an arthroscopy it’s called.”

Hopefully this will end the Celtic player’s injury woes and he’ll come back stronger.

Neil Lennon has thankfully recruited well in the summer so Jozo’s time away will not hit the squad as hard as it would’ve earlier this term.

Hatem Elhamed can double up as a centre back and Jullien along with Ajer will likely be the preferred pair. Nir Bitton had been playing in that position but the sustained an injury at Ibrox which will keep him out until the end of September.
