KIERAN TIERNEY has left the Scotland squad to return to Celtic after he was deemed not fit enough to play in Kazakhstan and has been ruled out of their Sunday fixture against San Marino.

The defender has missed three months of action this season with injuries and the news he is struggling again will not be good news for Celtic fans.

Reports say the player is not suffering from a reoccurrence of his hip and pelvic problem which kept him out for so long before BUT the young star does have a calf problem which has thrown his Glasgow Derby appearance into doubt.

Celtic take on Steven Gerrard’s men a week on Sunday and the Celtic staff will now have to assess Kieran in the wake of this new injury. He played no part in the defeat at Ibrox back in December because of an injury and will be desperate to be on the field come kick off on Mothers day.
