CELTIC FANS were dreading the news but it seemed in some ways inevitable after the furore around his international inclusion.

Tom Rogic played all 90 minutes in his countries 1-0 defeat to Jordan on Sunday and in doing so has suffered a suspected broken hand.

This could see the midfielder miss a decent amount of game time depending on how severe it is. There is the other scenario where the Socceroos decide he’s ok to play and the 26-year-old becomes worse as a result.

Austalia’s assistant manager Rene Meulensteen insisted he would not be taking any chances on the player’s fitness.

“First of all, every player’s health is paramount to everything,” Meulensteen told the Guardian.

. “I think there is a few scenarios they’re looking at at the moment so we’ll have to get the full scale of what we’ve got to do with that one … when he’s got the ultimate results of whether he can keep playing or not.”

After Australia’s devastating loss to Jordan in their opening game, they really need to register a win against Palestine on Friday. They surely will be tempted to play Tom, even if he isn’t 100%.

Depending on how far the Socceroos get, the midfielder could be missing the rest of the month anyway.
