CELTIC have been linked with a move for Birmingham centre-back Mitchell Roberts after Man City ran the rule over the player earlier this window.

According to an ‘Exclusive’ SunSport, Celtic are seriously considering bringing the 18-year-old to Glasgow. It won’t be as straight forward as the Luca Connell deal from Bolton with Luca not signing a professional deal with Bolton before the move.

Mitchell has signed a one-year professional deal with Birmingham this summer but given the short time frame of the contract, the club would be open to offers for the defender.

Celtic have been scouting potential talent down south and trying to bring them in before any club with TV money comes sniffing around them.

Mitchell could come in and genuinely get some game time this season with the Scottish Champions given the number of fixtures Celtic have to negotiate over the next ten months.

The transfer window closes on Monday evening and Celtic need to have their transfer business wrapped up by then.
