Celtic duo Oh and Yang have not been included in the South Korea squad for the upcoming March international break.

The pair, who went to the Asian Cup with their nation, have been dropped by new interim boss Hwang Sun-hong. He replaced Jurgen Klinsmann in the dugout following his sacking last month.

Oh’s minutes have been greatly reduced following the arrival of Adam Idah at Celtic. Indeed, since he returned from the Asian Cup in February, he has played just under half an hour.

His lack of inclusion is understandable although Yang has been on quite the run of form over the past few weeks. Although he was harshly sent off at Tynecastle last weekend, his performances have been nothing short of eye-catching.

Despite this, he too has been dropped and will not partake in a double-header with Thailand at the end of the month.

It will come as a disappointment that the duo cannot add to their combined 14 caps, but Brendan Rodgers will be quietly pleased they are staying put during the upcoming international break.

By not going away, Oh and Yang will have a much lower probability of sustaining an injury. Keeping them both fit – particularly the latter due to his effectiveness in recent weeks – going into a crucial title run-in should be a key priority.
