Oliver Sørensen has made it clear he wants to turn his Celtic loan move into a permanent deal after getting his first taste of life at the club.

The Danish midfielder arrived from Parma with an option to buy included in the deal, and he wasted little time making his debut, coming off the bench in Celtic’s 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park.

It has been a quick start to life in Glasgow for the 24-year-old, who had only just completed the final stages of his move before being thrown into the squad.

Speaking at his media conference, Sørensen said: (CelticPlayer), “It was nice to be able to play this early. It’s been a hectic few days, but I’m very happy to be here and so far only good impressions, so I’m happy.”

Asked just how hectic the move had been, he added: “Yes, very hectic. Flying to London for the medical and then coming here late, I think it was Monday night, doing all the media and the photo sessions. And then half the training and then the game. So, yes, a lot of stuff has happened. So, very, very hectic.”

Sørensen came on for Benjamin Nygren, who has started the season in excellent form, and the new signing knows he will have to fight for minutes in a strong midfield.

But he also believes he can bring something different to Martin O’Neill’s side.

He said: “I think I’m a different profile than most of the midfielders now. I’m more like a running player and all of them are good dictators of the game. So, I think I bring maybe a different dynamic.”

That profile could suit Celtic, particularly in games where late runs from midfield can open up packed defences. Sørensen almost made an instant impact against Aberdeen, linking with fellow debutant Shumaira Mheuka before sending a glancing effort wide.

He also revealed former Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko helped sell the move to him.

Sørensen said: “He said to me it was a no-brainer and I should go for sure. He sent me a few good restaurants also.”

On the option to buy, Sørensen could not have been clearer.

He said: “Yes, 100 per cent. I hope to do my best this season and hope to make the deal permanent if I play good enough. So, yes, 100 per cent I want to stay.”

Celtic missed out on the Champions League, but Sørensen still sees a chance to make an impact in Europe.

He said: “Europe is always special. So, yes, I would hope we could make a good run.”

After one brief cameo, it is still early days. But Sørensen has arrived with a clear idea of what he wants from Celtic, and he now has a season to show why the club should trigger that option.
