Oliver Sørensen has become the latest player to arrive at Celtic, with the Danish midfielder joining the Scottish champions on a season-long loan from Parma.

The deal includes an option for Celtic to make the move permanent, subject to international clearance.

Sørensen arrives after a year in the Serie A, having featured 36 times for Parma last season.

However, the 24-year-old has yet to feature in any of Parma’s league matches so far this campaign, opening the door for a move to Scotland.

His arrival provides Martin O’Neill with another midfield option as Celtic continue to reshape the squad following Arne Engels’ departure to West Ham.

The Hoops are still expected to officially announce the arrival of Joel van den Berg, while negotiations remain ongoing with Torino over Gvidas Gineitis.

Celtic have been pursuing the Lithuania international throughout the summer and have stepped up their efforts as the transfer deadline approaches.

There is also expected to be another addition in attack, with Chelsea striker Shim Mheuka closing in on a season-long loan move to Parkhead.

The 18-year-old has already completed his medical and is expected to be unveiled shortly.

Celtic are also continuing to explore options at both full-back positions, with the club targeting additions at left-back and right-back before the window closes.

Sørensen’s arrival is therefore unlikely to be the end of Celtic’s transfer activity.

With several deals at different stages, O’Neill and the Celtic recruitment team face a busy final stretch as they look to complete their squad for the season ahead.
