Celtic has been fairly active throughout the summer transfer window and looks to add a couple of players before the window slams shut in ten days time.

However, it’s gone quiet in regards to departures, with Postecoglou keen to move the players who won’t contribute to the squad on.

There are still many players sitting taking a large wage that won’t even make the bench; Posteocoglou will be keen to move them to another club and make space for some arrivals.

Here are five players who could still make a Celtic exit.

Chris Jullien

After having the chance to show the manager his worth in pre-season, the French defender failed to impress. As Celtic started the season perfectly, he hasn’t been part of Ange’s squads.

A move to Schalke broke down earlier in the window, with the club and player failing to agree on personal terms. He now looks set to join Montpellier although the details of the deal are not yet public knowledge.

Bringing Moritz Jenz in confirmed Jullien’s status in the team earlier this season.

James McCarthy

It’s clear that the Irishman isn’t part of Postecoglou’s plans. Despite being named on the bench for both of Celtic’s away matches, he’s failed to make an appearance this season.

Signing a four-year deal last summer, he’s going to be hard to shift, although there have been murmurings of English clubs interested in taking the player on.

Liam Shaw

The midfielder was signed on a pre-contract when Lennon was still in charge at Celtic, with Ange inheriting the player. The Celtic manager has only played the player twice, once in a dead rubber match against Real Betis and once when Celtic had a suspected COVID outbreak and injuries leaving them with a weakened squad.

After being sent to Motherwell on loan for the remainder of last season, he’s only appeared on the bench once in pre-season. It’s safe to say Ange doesn’t see the midfielder having a future at Celtic.

Mikey Johnston

The winger has struggled for minutes under Postecoglou, with the wide areas arguably Celtic’s strongest position.

A loan exit is on the cards for the winger, with Postecoglou revealing he’s a fan of the Scotsman and is keen to get some consistent minutes into the player.

Albian Ajeti

The striker hasn’t cut it at Celtic. It’s as simple as that. The £5 million fee splashed on the player has been wasted.

Featuring for Postecoglou in pre-season, he too hasn’t been part of any matchday squads since the season kicked off. It’s hard to imagine him getting another chance under the Aussie manager.
