Coming out of Saturday’s 3-1 win over Kilmarnock, two men have firmly been in the spotlight – Reo Hatate and Luis Palma.

While Celtic fans already know what the Japanese midfielder can do in a Celtic jersey, supporters are still learning about their new Honduran winger.

Despite a heart-wrenching VAR decision that nullified his what could’ve been a match-winning goal against Lazio, Palma bounced back in style, showcasing his undeniable talent against Kilmarnock.

His striking goal in that match received widespread applause, and former Hoops striker Simon Donnelly was among those deeply impressed.

Every time he was on the ball fans were on the edge of their seats, he was so dangerous and was a real threat on the wing.

On the Official Celtic Podcast, Donnelly, who is a regular on Celtic TV, lauded Palma’s undeniable skill, particularly highlighting his technique on the right side. Recounting his recent performances, Donnelly observed:

“He looks as if he’s got a real bit of technique on that right side. We saw the cross at Motherwell last week. We saw his finish against Lazio, albeit got cancelled out. It was a good finish.

“Today was an excellent finish from the edge of the box. He looks like a real player. He looks different to the rest of our wide players, who have got who have all got real electrifying pace.

“This guy likes to play football. He likes to work in the park. He showed a little bit of pace today, I wouldn’t say he’s lightning quick but he’s got an intelligent brain.

“I think he’s going to be able to link up with guys like Hatate, working inside. And that finish, I mean if he can replicate that week in, week out we’ve got a real player there.”

As far as Palma is concerned, this is just the start of his Celtic journey, and he’s only going to get better the more he plays in the side.
