Ange Postecoglou helped Celtic to win the Scottish Premiership title on Sunday.

It was the 53rd in the club’s history and the second in two years in Glasgow for the former Australia boss.

The turnaround Postecoglou has orchestrated in Glasgow has been truly special and after the victory over Hearts on Sunday which ensured the championship was coming back to Parkhead for the eleventh time in twelve seasons, the 57 year old was rather emotional.

Postecoglou was speaking about his immigrant background and said (KeepUp):

“I was born in Greece, I’m very proud of that, I grew up in Australia, I’m proud of that. More importantly, I have tried to make a contribution wherever I have been.”

Undoubtedly, Postecoglou has made a sizeable contribution in Glasgow’s east end.

In just under 22 months at Celtic, he has won four going on five trophies.

He also spoke about how any immigrant can make a contribution wherever they are:

“There is a story there which a lot of people can relate to… being an immigrant, being displaced, you can still contribute and add to any nation that adopts you.”

What Ange is saying here is 100% correct as immigrant stories are what Celtic Football Club is based on.

The club was founded in 1888 in order to feed Irish immigrants in Glasgow’s east end and this background is something that is never shied away from.

It is great that the current Celtic manager relates to the founding principles of the club via his life experience thus far.

This has certainly helped him gain even more adoration from the fans:

“I don’t take that for granted either, the way the supporters have got behind this team, and by extension got behind me.

“This football club has embraced my whole family, particularly the supporters, it is truly special.”

The connection between the Celtic support and Ange Postecoglou at the minute is nothing like has ever been before with any manager.

There is a true resonation which is heavily encouraging and Postecoglou’s background, combined with on the pitch success, has ensured his status as one of the most popular Hoops’ bosses of all time.

Under the Australian, the future is as bright as ever and after a likely treble is secured this campaign, it will be intriguing to see what is in store for the club.
