We are still waiting on both the SWPL and Rangers Women coming out to address the pathetic full-time antics of one Rangers coach on Monday evening.

Emotions were running high after Celtic managed to score a 99-minute equaliser in the Women’s Glasgow Derby to retain their second spot at the top of the table.

After the match, the Celtic bench and players were clearly delighted after facing down a defeat while there was despair on the opposite bench.

However, what would happen next was utterly embarrassing for Rangers Women’s side and the game itself, which was being beamed across the UK on Sky Sports for the very first time.

Rangers coach Craig McPherson looked like he headbutted Fran Alonso from behind with no provocation from the Celtic manager and it did appear McPherson was spoiling for a fight before Celtic coaches and players interjected. Utterly embarrassing behaviour.

Astin Villa player Rachel Corsie who was on the Sky Sports punditry team last night spoke after the match: “It’s a bad incident,”

“We have obviously seen the replay, and you can see he looks animated. It suggests maybe there has been something prior to that, but either way, we can’t have that happening in football at all.

“It’s disappointing because it leaves a sour taste on what otherwise has been a great spectacle, a great occasion and a great game.” Barbour rounded off: “I’m sure there will be plenty of people investigating that.”

Eilidh Barbour was the presenter on the night and she believed the incident takes away from the game: “I’m sure there will be a lot of people having a look at what happened at the end there. It was such a good game, such a good spectacle and platform for the game. It doesn’t matter if it’s the men’s game or the women’s game – we don’t want to see that.”

Fran Alonso spoke after the match claiming Mcpherson had called him ‘a wee rat’ during the altercation.

We were expecting swift action on this and comments from the SWPL, but we wait to see what the league decides to do with the Rangers coach – who should, at the very least, apologies.
