It was only last summer when Liam Burt rejoined Celtic on a two-year deal. The midfielder was given an opportunity to impress but didn’t manage to make the cut. The lack of reserve or competitive games makes it difficult for anyone to shine in the current system.

Burt was released earlier this summer and has been looking for his next move in football.

According to SunSport, the player could be on his way down south to join Barnsley in a big to kickstart his football career in the Lower leagues.

Burt has some very good attributes, but he needs a chance to show what he can do. The Celtic fan seemed determined not to let the latest rejection bring him down.

Celtic let a lot of fringe players go this summer as they trimmed fat off the budget which has been hit hard by the football shutdown.

If Burt does head down south, we wish him all the best.
