The Celtic squad stuttered and stumbled through the first half of the season with mounting injuries and very few quality players in reserve.

It was an up and down period for Ange – fans could see the progress but the injury crisis at times took hold and we had barely anyone to call upon when some of our top players were out.

The second half of the season has been so much different in comparison. Bringing in players during January has afforded Celtic options and Ange cover for when people do go down injured.

The game against Dundee Utd on Monday night exemplified that fact. As a Celtic fan pointed out on social media – the Hoops were missing four of their top scorers for the season when they got underway at Tannadice.

Before the game kicked off the missing quarter of Jota, Abada, Kyogo and Turnbull had scored 49 of Celtic’s 101 goals so far this season. Missing that much fire power in a team usually sees goals dry up – not in this case.

Celtic eased to a comfortable victory in the end and booked their place in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

Abada and Jota are set for quick returns while Turnbull is nearing a squad place once again. We don’t have a date for Kyogo yet, but Ange hasn’t ruled the Japanese star out of contention for the run-in yet.

To have those free scoring four back to call upon with the rest of our ensemble – is it time to get excited?
