The Glasgow Times is reporting that Defender Kris Ajer is being pursued by Bundesliga club Bayern Leverkusen.

Ajer, who has been touted with moves to Norwich and Newcastle could link up with former teammate Jeremie Frimpong who moved to Germany in the winter window at the beginning of this year if a deal was to be worked out.

It’s reported that no contact has been made between Celtic and Leverkusen although Ajer’s representatives have met with the German club.

Leverkusen finished 6th last season, conceding only 39 goals. With Ajer’s commanding presence at the back this could enable Leverkusen to tighten their defence and challenge for Champions League football next season.

The defender is currently in Marbella with the Norway squad as they prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers after missing out on the Euros. Norway are set to play Luxembourg and Greece in the coming days.

With three clubs now in the race for the 6-foot 5-inch defender the club should look to sell Ajer for a higher price than has been initially reported. At 23 years old, the Norwegian has already attracted interest from Italian giants A.C. Millan and Leicester City.

There is no doubt in Kris Ajer’s potential and some think he may follow in the path of former Celtic player Virgil Van Dijk.
