Reported Celtic target Piero Hincapie is in advanced talks with an unnamed Serie A club.

Earlier this week, the Hoops were linked with a shock move for Hincapie (Read More), who has been one of the breakout stars in the Copa America for Ecuador this summer.

However, as quoted by Glasgow Live, the president of Atlético Talleres de Argentina, where Hincapie currently plays his club football, Andrés Fassi has spoken to Spanish outlet Eldes Marque, claiming that the young defender is in advanced talks with an Italian side.

“[Hancapie is in] very advanced with a team from Italy.

“We will see how we progress next week.

“[Hincapie] is already made for European football.”

With Celtic’s desperate need for defenders going into next season, it doesn’t come as a surprise to see the club linked with a move for a few players in that position.

The South American market isn’t one which the Hoops use all that often, and with interest coming from elsewhere in Europe, it would certainly be a surprise to see Celtic pull off a deal like this in the summer window.
