Reports have suggested this morning that Celtic could be about to complete their first signing of the January transfer window, with Japanese midfielder Reo Hatate on the verge of signing for the Hoops.

As reported by the Daily Record, according to a report from reliable Scottish Daily Mail journalist Stephen McGowan, the move is ‘well down the road’ as Ange Postecoglou looks to use his contacts and knowledge of Japan once again.

The versatile 24-year old, whose contract is set to expire in January, has deployed at left-back this season. However, it appears to suggest that Ange will be looking to play him in his more natural midfield position.

He has also already said his goodbyes to his former teammates at Kawasaki Frontale.

Of course, one of the 56-year old first pieces of business, and arguably his best, was bringing in Kyogo Furuhashi in the summer.

So if Hatate can bring a similar sort of impact, we could be on to a winner by adding more depth and quality to the squad, which Ange needs.
