As well as confirming this afternoon that Celtic were considering a move for Steven Fletcher, it has also been revealed that the club have been in talks with another striker. This time, former Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor.
Taylor left the now relegated Championship side, after letting his contract run down. The 30-year old, fell out with Charlton after failing to agree a short extension which would allow him to play the remaining games of the Championship season, after it was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Sky Sports have revealed that as well as speaking to several different targets, contact has been made with Taylor.
Celtic are in talks with striker Lyle Taylor, who is a free agent after leaving Charlton.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon this afternoon told @SkySportsNews he’s holding talks with Steven Fletcher plus a couple more strikers.
SSN can reveal one of those is Taylor #Celtic— Keith Downie (@SkySports_Keith) August 6, 2020
The striker has had spells in Scotland before, spending a year at Falkirk and having two separate loan spells with Partick Thistle.
It is clear to see that manager, Neil Lennon is after a number of new faces to add to his attacking line. Taylor is a player who has had good form over the last few years but there is a lot of uncertainty around if this is someone we should be looking at as a target.
