BRENDAN RODGERS has distanced himself from talk of John McGinn joining the club in this window but does not rule out the possibility of it happening.

When asked about the current state of play between the two clubs, Brendan was open and honest, telling the media he was very much not part of those proceedings.

Celtic have been looking at the player for quite some time and have already had two bids rejected from Hibs.

“That’s something for the clubs to organise. I coach the team, I manage the team. We target players but ultimately any agreements have to be between the two clubs.

“We respect John is still very much a Hibs player and unless there’s an agreement. Like I say, it’s going to be a difficult one. That’s really between the clubs.”

With John coming into the last year of his deal, Celtic are wary of paying over the odds for a player they could snap up in January for nothing on a pre-contract agreement.

Should Celtic go above and beyond to get him signed now?

Here’s one of our writers making the argument for why we shouldn’t.
