The owner of Peterborough united Darragh MacAnthony, has confirmed that the club have received a bid from a Scottish club for in-demand striker Ivan Toney.

MacAnthony confirmed this news on his twitter account stating that the club have had ‘multiple bids from Prem/Champ and one from Scotland’.

The tweet came about after rumours had appeared online, that the 24-year old was close to a move to Brentford. He has also not yet confirmed who this unnamed Scottish clubs is.

Toney has of course though been linked with the club in the last couple of days. The striker also has connections with new first-team coach at the club, Gavin Strachan who was assistant manager at Peterborough last season.

This bid may have come from either Celtic or Rangers but I believe this may have been one placed by the hoops in the last couple of days, before we knew the Albian Ajeti deal was set to happen, as the Swiss striker looks all but signed up for next season at the moment.
