Former Celtic youth academy player, Simon Ferry has hit out at the Celtic stars who featured on Thursday night claiming that they ‘gave up’ and the only player to put the required effort in was on-loan left-back Diego Laxalt.

Speaking on Go Radio, Ferry was clearly furious at the players out on the pitch at Celtic Park on Thursday, having a go at those who have been here for years and should know what it is like to play at Celtic.

“The only one who tries to win the ball back when they give it away is Laxalt.

“You can see it, I can see it. He’s the only one. He’s been in the door for two weeks, he gives the ball away and bangs, he gets it back.

“You’ve got guys who have been there for years, who know what it means, who have been part of this run for Nine In A Row and it seems to be like they’re giving it up on a whim.”

The Open Goal host also centred both Odsonne Edouard and Mohamed Elyounoussi for criticism, for their performances and spoke about how he won’t make it to the level like that.

“Edouard, a £30m player? Walking about. Guys like Firmino, these top players that Edouard wants to be, they work twice as hard as what Edouard works. Elyounoussi shaking his head coming off, why? That’s the problem, these guys think they are doing well. They’re not.”

Ferry definitely has a point with what he is saying. Celtic fans may not have been surprised at the performance but it is still shocking to see players not try and give up when the going gets tough.

Something needs to be changed in and around the club because the attitude at this current moment, simply isn’t good enough.

  1. Something is rotten inside Parkhead. S**t cascades down”. So always look to the top ! There is something going on which we are not party to….yet! If players are behaving the way people are saying then there has to be bad management at some level or all levels.
