With the beautiful game brought to a grinding halt on Friday both north and south of the border the amount of uncertainty is incredible.

Will the season finish? What about players contracts? Do medals getting handled out? Do we receive refunds for games we’ve already paid for as part of our season ticket?

One thing we have chased up is Sports TV subscriptions when it comes to paying our bills.

While this is pales in comparison to the problems thrown up by this pandemic, everyone will be feeling the pinch at this time and will be wondering how to cut costs.

At this moment in time, it looks like Sky Sports are NOT going to freeze payments or cut the price of a subscription based on our enquiry to the TV channel.

We asked the question whether there would be options available to subscribers and this is the response we got from Sky.

‘In regards to live sporting events, we would reiterate that these events have been postponed, and not cancelled, which means that they are likely to go ahead at a later date.

‘We will continue to keep you up to date on changes to our sports schedule and coverage as soon as we have more information via SSN and the Sky Sports website.

‘Should we reach the position where a substantial number of sporting events are fully cancelled over the coming months, we will then provide you with an update to our policy with regard to changes to your subscription at that time.’

So it would appear at this point they’re clutching to their subscribers in the hope things are thrashed out and they can offer some bang for our buck. We are told this has been the standard response Sky Sports are handing out to any subscriber at the moment.

It won’t be a sustainable position if the game is postponed for the best part of six months. That’s a lot of cash which would flow to the TV channel with little in return for the paying customer.

We will continue to check the status of Sky Sports position.
