CHRIS SUTTON has sent a warning to both Neil Lennon and Steven Gerrard as they both kicked off their SPFL campaigns this weekend – one of you will be gone by the end of the season.

The former striker has worked under the pressure of being a Celtic player and knows that anything other than nine in a row being delivered will see the curtain come down on his Celtic managerial career.

In the same breath, the Ibrox club have been talking themselves up so much and believing the hype – if Gerrard doesn’t deliver this time around his head is for the chopping block.

“Either Neil Lennon or Steven Gerrard won’t be in his job at this time next year.” Sutton wrote in RecordSport Column.

“It’s a harsh fact and it’s why season 2019/20 is absolutely critical in terms of the Old Firm.

“The losing manager in the race for the Premiership will pay the ultimate price. It’s not something I say lightly but assessing the scenario which both gaffers face, it’s likely to be the outcome.”

Both got off to winning starts but it was Neil Lennon’s side who laid down a real marker for the season by smashing St Johnstone 7-0 on flag day.

The bhoys were outstanding.

In comparison, the Ibrox club rode their luck at Rugby Park and managed to get a late win, which was after 86 minutes. Who would have thought!
