THE GLASGOW DERBY is one of the best derbies in the world. The rivalry is unmatched. English pundit, Alan Shearer, has talked up the derby ahead of Sunday’s showdown.

Both sides are set to meet on Sunday, with Celtic having the opportunity to stretch their advantage to nine points, with as many to play for. With their goal difference, a win should wrap up the league.

Speaking on the MOTD Podcast, the former Newcastle and England striker replied to Lineker’s question about ever attending a derby, saying;

“Oh yes, unbelievable. They are without a doubt, I’ve been to a lot of these games, but that Glasgow Derby is something else. My god, it is ferocious. Both grounds at Celtic and at Rangers, it is a proper hatred isn’t it? It’s something different up there.”

Down south, no derby matches the Glasgow Derby. It’s all tinpot, with half and half scarves and players hugging on the pitch. Roy Keane has expressed his dismay many times with it.

In Glasgow, football is just more than a game. If your team loses the derby, your week is miserable and slow until the match at the weekend. If you win, you get the bragging rights and have a blast.

The fans make the derby in Scotland. Most of the time, fans know whoever wins the most derbies will likely win the league, adding the excitement to the fixture.
