Kyogo Furuhashi will not be going to the World Cup and neither will Reo Hatate after Japan confirmed their 26 man squad with neither player making it. [Celtic FC]

Only Daizen Maeda has made the cut for the tournament later this month. The winger will be the only Japanese representative in Qatar.

Reo Hatate not being selected was expected. There was only a very outside chance the midfielder would get the nod. However, Kyogo not getting the nod is a genuine shock.

The striker will stay behind in Glasgow and travel with the bhoys to Australia later on in November. It’s good news if you’re a Celtic fan but bad news for Kyogo on a personal level.

There are just four games left before the World Cup break. We hope Kyogo goes out his way to show Japan what they’ll be missing.

Maeda will be given the chance to play at the World Cup, but how much game time could the player see?
