New Celtic defender Carl Starfelt was officially unveiled at Parkhead this afternoon, completing his move from Ruben Kazan on a four-year deal.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the Swedish international revealed a touch of class from new Hoops captain Callum McGregor, who sent the 26-year old a message to welcome him to the club.

“It’s very nice. He sent me a nice message, and we spoke a little bit,” Starfelt said of McGregor.

“Everyone I have been in touch with so far at the club seems very welcoming and nice.

“It’s nice that your teammates help you get into everything.”

For many years, this is the sort of story we would hear about former captain Scott Brown, so the club’s newest captain has clearly picked up a few of his tricks along the way.

It might seem like the smallest of things, but welcoming his new teammate instantly could help him settle in at the club a lot quicker.

After completing his isolation, the defender will have joined the squad for tomorrow today, in preparation for Saturday’s league season opener against Hearts.

Fans will be hoping that Starfelt has settled in quickly, with the big fixtures coming thick and fast for the Hoops in the weeks and months to come.
