Celtic flew out today for their game against Rennes on Thursday night and trained at Celtic Park before the flight. This a tradition now to keep the bhoys local before the short trip to Glasgow airport.

Not everybody who trains makes the flight but there was a surprising inclusion in first team training that could make for an interesting story if the player has flown to France.

Jeremie Frimpong was among the players training at Celtic Park today. The youngster was omitted from the Celtic developmental size when they took on Hibs st Lennoxtown on Tuesday. We assumed the newly signed defender was injured or lacked fitness. However, it appears Neil Lennon has brought him into the first team fold quickly.

The 18-year-old right back signed on deadline day from Manchester City a long with Lee O’Connor from the red have of Manchester. O’Connor played in the bounce game and so did Jonathan Afolabi but no Frimpong.

We await confirmation of the full squad who flew out. Unless Neil Lennon just wants Jeremie in for the experience of travelling away it’s unlikely he’d be in the match day squad.

Hatem Elhamed is the preferred right back and Moritz Bauer is cover.
