CELTIC boss Ange Postecoglou has addressed the intense speculation surrounding his potential move to Tottenham Hotspur, emphasising that he is solely focused on the remaining games of the season.

The manager isn’t bothered about his name being the talk of the country, and the press splashing his face over the back pages of newspapers, he’s only interested in pleasing the Celtic fans and the board.

“[In terms of it being flattering to be splashed over the back pages of English newspapers] that doesn’t really rock my boat”, Postecoglou told the Scotsman.

“Being on the back pages of papers isn’t what drives me.

“All I have ever tried to do is the job I have to the best of my ability, bring success and rejoice in that. Not worry about what happens next, or when it happens, or if it happens. When you do that, you miss the opportunity of where you are at right now.

“The most important recognition of what I do comes from the people I am representing. If the people at the club and the supporters are recognising what I do, that’s all I need.”

Celtic are pushing for a treble, and are now a match away from potentially securing a world record eight treble, their fifth in seven years.

Postecoglou acknowledged that rumours about his potential departure may unsettle the Celtic fans who have wholeheartedly embraced him as their manager.

He likened it to the uncertainty surrounding players’ futures, noting that it is a natural part of football. However, he reassured fans that regardless of what the future holds for him or anyone else, Celtic will continue to exist and thrive.

“I understand that [the rumours can unsettle the fans.]

“It’s only natural, and I guess it’s the same with players. As a manager I love to think that we will keep all our players for the start of next year, but the reality is that it probably won’t happen. I think it’s the nature of football and we understand that. But whatever the future holds for me or anyone else this football club continues to exist, it continues to be successful. That doesn’t change.”
