FRASER FORSTER is enjoying his Celtic renaissance and has recently said he would find it hard to turn down Celtic if they wanted him back on a permanent deal.

However, if you look into the figures – you wonder how any deal could materialise next summer. Like Mohamed Elyounoussi this might just be a case of one and done for the goalkeeper with regards to Celtic.

According to Spotrac – Fraser Forster signed an £18.2m contact with Southampton which takes him up until the end of the 2022 season. That’s an annual salary of £3.64m and a weekly wage of £70kpw.

This is just a base salary and would not include any bonuses for league position etc regardless if he’s playing or not.

This would mean even if Fraser cut his wage in half, which would be a big ask, he’d by among the top earners at Celtic.

It doesn’t seem feasible at this moment. Southampton would want a fee for their player and they would be unlikely to cut a deal with Fraser to get him off the wage bill with the figures we’re talking.

If Celtic do manage to land Fraser on a permanent deal it would be a marquee signing.
