CELTIC fans know the club are pushing it for time when it comes to bringing in a right back before the competitive games begin.

Lustig, Toljan and Gamboa leaving this summer means Anthony Ralston is Celtic’s top and first choice right back by default. With the Champions League qualifiers on the horizon, the bhoys must leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of a quality right back who can fit seamlessly into the first team Celtic squad.

So many names have been linked with a move to the club but one man’s name which keeps popping up is Jack Stacey. Since last week, the Luton players name has been mentioned quite a lot when it comes to a transfer to Celtic with the Derry Journal rating the defender at £2million.

The 23-year-old defender is entering the final year of his Luton contract and he’s attracted the attention of more than one club after a standout season for the English side.

According to RecordSport, Neil Lennon has put other signing targets on the back burner in order to procure a right back as soon as possible and the report claims Stacey is among the candidates.

Some may snobbishly turn their nose up at a defender from the lower leagues in England but Celtic have to be creative and find talent anywhere they can.

The club have until Thursday to register their squad for the first Champions League qualifier against Sarajevo.
