When Celtic lose a game, the reaction can be quite over bearing, especially on social media. There is then the other side of the spectrum where people are underplaying a defeat, passing it off as bad day at the office. There is a middle ground to be occupied and Ange Postecoglou said as much on Sunday.

The Celtic manager was clear they don’t write off any game – win or lose. It’s the correct way to look at things.

38 games unbeaten domestically doesn’t happen by accident and a defeat against St Mirren presents the Celtic manager with questions about his approach and the players at his disposal.

Celtic had a top start to the season before Paisley brought us to a creeping holt. There was a belief we had the squad to cope with 6 changes without skipping a beat, for now, that idea is out the window.

The debate at the beginning of the season was who should be partnering Cameron Carter-Vickers in the heart of defence. Moritz Jenz came in and played straight away due to Carl’s original injury and did well. Without CCV by his side on Sunday, the defender looked half the player.

Moritz can be valuable for Celtic this season, but as our THIRD centre-back choice behind Carl and CCV. The Swede and the American have the positions locked when they’re both fit. There can be no debate over that after Sunday. The pairing that brought us 38 games unbeaten weren’t in Paisley on Sunday and it showed.

  1. Jenz is still my preferred choice to partner CCV and I can’t fault him for yesterday’s result; the manager has to take the fall for that one.

Starfelt is a solid defender, but struggles with other parts of his game, particularly his passing which is at times at an amateur level.

  2. On the matter thats gaining all this media attention; did they honestly expect a bunch of working class people, who’s one outlet per week is a game of football they pay to see, to care about a family of overlords who live lives of luxury off of their taxes!?

A game of football is and should be about just that, football! None of this trying to force people into showing mock respect to people they clearly don’t identify with, and then acting shocked when they express their own opinions on this forced expectation of them!

It should never have been put into action in the first place. Its like those who thought it a good idea live in some type of dreamworld fantasy land!

Did the St Mirren fans, who have sang f#*k the Queen & Pope for years now, hypocritically stand in silence clapping?

If people want to pay their respects, let them do it privately, or at the very least at events set up to cater for it, not like this where it’s doomed to failure from the get go!

  3. The problem on Sunday wasn’t jenz. I prefer him to starfelt. Welsh had the worst game I’ve ever seen him play for Celtic. Bullied and missed headers.
Mooy offers nothing to the team except late in the game when we want to tighten up. He can’t control a ball never mind a midfield. His passing is slow and predictable. He was bullied by their midfield and he moved like he was in flip flops.
Maeda has under performed all season, and Abada has been hit and miss so far. Both were exceptional last season, but we needed solidity for one game before the international break. Get the game won by halftime and make five changes, but the 6 changes cost us, and that’s on Ange.
He gets the plaudits when we win 9-0, so he gets his share of the Malmö for yesterday.
