It has been an eventful 24 hours for Timothy Weah who is set to link up with his country after declining the offer to be part of Celtic’s Scottish Cup squad.

After the rejection the player was told he could leave the club before his loan deal officially finished and he packed his things and left Lennoxtown on Friday afternoon.

There has been a lot of debate surrounding the young American and if Neil Lennon was even correct to move him on promptly.

However, it’s done now and the midfielder will get his wish to play for his country at under 20 level at the World Cup.

The news doesn’t stop there for Timo with France Football tonight reporting his parent club PSG are ready to sell the player this summer after his Celtic loan move didn’t quite work out. This would be a blow for the youngster who was hoping to try and break into the star studded team.

The report claims he could be heading to the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

  1. It’s Celtic who may face the blow. Celtic by Numbers is by far the best and most analytical blog and they are of the opinion that Timo is a good as Odsonne. Although they agree that they are using a small sample than normal in their stats, I follow their blog faithfully, being a numbers man myself and I never find fault with them. They know what they are talking about, compared to many other opinionated, rather than analytical blogs.

I fear NL (or the CEO?) has acted too rapidly. If this can be rescued, it should be. However, the lad should be able to play for his country. Americans are very proud of representing their country and this should be a consideration. I think he would jump at coming to Celtic. However, we shall see.
