CELTIC finally managed to secure a full back for the rest of the season with the announcement the club had signed Jeremy Toljan on loan for the rest of the season.

The German defender has been unlucky at Dortmund and finds himself on the periphery of the Bundesliga side this season. The opportunity to come and get game time at Celtic means it’s a fantastic move for both parties.

However, it’s a short term fix for both at this moment in time. With no reports of Celtic having ‘first option’ on the player, it could very well me just a quick hello from the player.

With that in mind, Celtic’s original target Timothy Castagne’s latest quotes CAN’T be ignored when it comes to a move in the summer.

“Atalanta does not want to let me go and I do not want to leave.” the defender admitted to SunSport.

“The club has also activated an option in my contract, so I am here until 2021.

“But let’s see what happens in the summer. I certainly won’t be ruling out a departure from Atalanta then.

“If I do go, it would have to be a team that plays in the Champions League and for a club that goes every year for the title.”

“If Atalanta have the same goals and gets to play European football, then maybe I will stay here.”

Jeremy Toljan and Celtic could get on like a house on fire and the club could make the move permanent in the summer if all parties want the deal to happen. If after his loan spell, Jeremy heads back to Germany then surely this is an invitation put out by Castagne to go get him this summer If Celtic are in the Champions League and will most certainly be challenging for the league.

The issue of affordability is always going to come up, and everything right now takes a back set until the summer.
