Steve Clarke has been criticised for not hanging David Turnbull his first call-up to the Scotland squad but when pressed on why David hadn’t made it – he was pretty vague.

The Scotland boss claimed the midfield is too strong at present for David to make the breakthrough.

“The midfield is very strong. David is doing really well and certainly one for the future, one to keep an eye on.” Clarke told Glasgow Live.

David has had a breakout season with Celtic, the Scottish midfielder has been the standout in a season where there’s not been much to shout about from a Celtic perspective.

It’s clear David would be a great option for his country and could give them another top option during the Euro’s but it appears he will be overlooked for this summers Euro’s.

It’s clear, whatever manager comes in this summer for Celtic will likely build a team around the likes of David Turnbull and Callum McGregor – two players who can help Celtic get back to winning ways.

Could Steve Clarke be that man after the Euro’s, find out what he had to say on speculation linking him with Celtic. [Here]
